Bootmgr Is Missing Error Fix – Windows 7 Or Vista

The Bootmgr Is Missing Error is a problem that indicates your computer could not locate your Windows installation.There are few ways that the “BOOTMGR is missing” error may show up on your computer, with the first error I have listed being the most common:

• “BOOTMGR is missing
  Press Ctrl Alt Del to restart”
• “BOOTMGR is missing
  Press any key to restart”
• “Couldn’t find BOOTMGR”

The “BOOTMGR is missing” error displays shortly after the computer is turned on, immediately after the Power On Self Test (POST) is complete. Windows 7 or Windows Vista has only initially started to load when the BOOTMGR error message appears.

How To Fix “Bootmgr Is Missing” Error

1. Restart the PC. The BOOTMGR error could be a fluke.
2. Check your optical drives, USB ports, and floppy drives for media. Often times, the “BOOTMGR is Missing” error will appear if your PC is trying to boot to a non-bootable disc, external drive, or floppy disk.Note: If you find that this is the cause of your issue and it’s happening regularly, you might want to consider changing the boot order in BIOS so the hard drive is listed as the first boot device.
3. The registry can be a huge source of critical errors that include the Bootmgr Is Missing Error and other major errors that cause your computer to crash or run very slow.  The registry is the part of your operating system that handles the storing of files and program settings which help Windows remember how to load and run all the files and programs installed on your computer.  However, due to the way Windows saves registry keys in the wrong way, they easily can become damaged or corrupted.  To fix the error on your Windows 7 system, you need to clean out the registry in order for it to get rid of serious errors by using a ‘registry cleaner’ program to automatically perform a complete system scan and repair all errors inside.
